Women's Spirituality Group

Deaconess Debbie will be facilitating a Women's Spirituality Group beginning in October.  Please join us for our first meeting on Monday, October 4th from 7:00 - 8:30pm.  We will decide at this meeting what is the best day and time for this monthly group.

Wednesday Adult Bible Study

Wednesday Adult Bible Study resumes this Wednesday, September 8th.  We meet in the kitchen at 10:00am.  Newcomers welcome.  Leader - Jim Scherer.

Bible Basics for Students

Third-graders and their parents are invited to the Bible Basics for Students class which offers some hands-on time for students to get to know their Bible.  The class is Saturday, September 18th, 4:00-5:00pm, followed by a light supper.  Older students who have not yet taken this class are also invited to attend.  Questions?  Ask Deaconess Debbie at 708-848-4741.

We will be presenting Bibles in worship on Sunday, September 19th to children who are age 3, in 3rd grade or 7th grade.  Please plan on attending worship at either service that Sunday.

Sunday School Begins

Join us for a kick-off celebration on Sunday, September 12th at 9:15am in the Sanctuary of our Sunday school year.   This event is for both students and their parents - we will be highlighting the coming year and getting to know Deaconess Debbie.  If you haven't registered for Sunday school yet, now is your chance.  We will also be recruiting volunteers to be age group leaders or to lead the rotations each Sunday.  We will follow with refreshments in Fellowship Hall.  Please bring your favorite treats to share.  Regular Sunday school classes begin September 19th.

If you would like to sign up to be a rotation leader, the Volunteer Board is in the Narthex.

High Schoolers - Weekend Retreat - September 24th - 26th

Mark your calendars - The Youth Group will be going to White Pines Ranch in Oregon, IL for a weekend retreat.  Dates are Friday - Sunday, September 24th - 26th.  Out-of-pocket costs will be approximately $50.00 per participant (meals included).  White Pines offers horseback riding, campfires, hiking in the sandstone canyons and more!  Information:  Debbie Rank (708-848-4741).

Wanna Get Away to Great America?

All confirmation students and youth (entering grades 7 - 12) - we are going to Great America on Saturday, August 7th.  We will leave from church at 9:00am and return at 10:00pm.  RSVPs and permission slips are required for this event.  Chaperones and drivers are also needed.  Please sign up on the Yes sheet, or RSVP to Debbie Rank (christianed@goodshepherdlc.org or text message to 574-575-0390).

Christian Education Meeting - July 27

Do you feel the pull of curious minds calling you? Do you love the smiles and laughter of children of all ages? Do you have a spiritual journey that you would like to share with others? Then you are being called to Christian Education. We will be having a planning meeting to set up committees for the various pieces of Christian Ed, and to talk about activities for the upcoming school year on Tuesday, July 27th at 7:15 p.m. in the Library here at Good Shepherd.
